Comfort Maximized - From New Plants to Air Conditioner Service

December 11, 2015

With colder weather settled in and days that seem like there’s very little any sunshine, it can be hard to always feel like your home is a comfy place to be. That goes far beyond having annual air conditioner service too, because there are numerous things you can do to help make your home feel cozy even when your air conditioner is running at its best.

Here are a few that we find particularly helpful here in the Bay Area:

  • Seal air leaks. Air leaks, whether they’re around your windows or your doors, can mean quite a bit of air is sneaking out of your home. Not to mention that the air that you’ve just paid to be heated or cooled is heading outside also. There are various choices that can help you close those gaps, from weatherstripping to caulking, and they are fairly simple fixes for homeowners to take care of themselves.
  • Change your air conditioner filter. This is one of the most critical things you can do to not only increase your air conditioner’s efficiency, but also to help save you money. Plus, you don’t need to have your air conditioner service technician to do it, you can handle it yourself. It’s typically recommended to change your air conditioner filter every one or two months to get the most out of its performance, but some may last even longer.
  • Add plants. Indoor plants can provide a variety of comforts for your home. Not only are they visually attractive, they could potentially boost your indoor air quality as well because plants absorb a number of pollutants that are emitted from various common household cleaners, paints and other products.
  • Air conditioner service. This should be something that you’re already taking care of, but it never hurts to get a reminder. Having air conditioner service performed annually helps you make certain that your air conditioner is in working-order, and if there’s a need for repairs, those can be handled so your comfort isn’t compromised.

It doesn’t have to feel tough to keep a comfortable home when winter sets in. Feel free to give us a call at 510-343-9841  to learn more about any of these suggestions or find out more about air conditioners, our air conditioner service or anything else comfort related.
